Workers deliver letter to Chief Operating Officer, Bob Loughman, demanding Improvements
150 temp workers pack the Staffing Network office in Hanover Park at 4:30am on Monday, November 12, 2012. The national day labor agency staffs the assembly, packing and shipping operations of Norelco and many other facilities in the Walmart Supply Chain.
We want an end to the disrespectful treatment, rampant discrimination, unfair retaliation for taking off work due to sickness, lack of time to rest and spend with our families because we are forced to report for work hours before the shift without being compensated.
Rosa Ramirez, CWC leader and representative of the Staffing Network Workers’ Committee, announces the workers’ demands: “Staffing Network must set up a system to resolve our concerns without retaliation against workers.”
A Staffing Network manager calls and threatens Rosa with arrest for causing such a “scandal”. Rosa tells her, “Go ahead and report us to the police. What will they do? Arrest us for demanding respect for our rights?”
